TIM ROGERS

Introducing Interim Pastor, Dr. Tim Rogers!

Tim Rogers is a Teaching Elder in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

He was born and raised in a devout Christian family in Manchester, Kentucky.  In his undergraduate education, Tim graduated magna cum laude from Berea Collage in Kentucky with a dual emphasis degree in History and Social Studies Education.  He also has an MA in Educational Leadership from Eastern Kentucky University and an Educational Doctorate from the University of Cumberlands.  Tim has completed additional graduate level coursework from the University of Cambridge, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Reformed Theological Seminary.

Tim entered the EPC at the time he was pastor at Greenbriar Presbyterian Church in his hometown of Manchester.  When Greenbriar Church departed the PCUSA and entered the EPC, Tim was received also.  Originally, he had been ordained to preach within the Southern Baptist Church and was received into the EPC under the exceptional clause.

He completed a ten-year pastorate at Greenbriar Church in 2012.  During his ministry at Greenbriar, Tim participated in a community-wide transformation effort led by area churches. This community effort was chronicled in the documentary Appalachian Dawn.  After Greenbriar Church Tim became Executive Director of the Elgin Children’s Foundation, a Knoxville-based ministry that served over 25,000 children annually by providing dental care, academic support, and discipleship programs for children living in rural poverty in southeast Kentucky, east Tennessee, and southwest Virginia.

In 2020 Tim became the Director of Operations for Emerald Charter Schools in Knoxville, Tennessee.  During his first two years as Director, Tim helped lead this ministry to be named “Tennessee Charter School of the Year” for 2021.  Tim continues in this leadership role today.

During the years of 2012-2021 Tim served several congregations in the Presbytery of the Southeast EPC as stated supply/interim pastor.  Those congregations include: Wilson Station Church, Englewood, TN; Brainerd Church, Chattanooga, TN; Crosswalk Church, Knoxville, TN; and Murphy Presbyterian Church, Murphy, NC.   Tim also has served on the major Presbytery Ministerial Care Committee.
